The Client

As a founding member of the Russell Group, The University of Southampton prides itself on its world-leading research and academic teaching, ranking in the top 1% of Universities worldwide.

Due to COVID-19, Graduations were postponed. The University of Southampton did not want any student to miss out on the celebration of their graduation day, so combined the cohorts of 2020, 2021 and 2022 into a 3-day Super Graduation event.

The Solution

With the large number of students per day, we quickly realised that gowning all students on-site would take a lot of time, impeding on the overall graduation experience due to longer queues and waiting times.

In order to prevent this, we utilised our ecommerce practices to deliver our gowns to students in advance of their ceremony, which meant graduates could enjoy the use of their attire before their graduation day and have a better experience on the day of their graduation.

For any issues on the day, we arranged a large amount of highly-skilled staff members to cater to different areas of the graduation process, with a gowning team ready at hand to assist any students who needed assistance with their attire.

The Results

The graduation ceremonies were a great success, with high gowning satisfaction rates from both students and staff. We achieved an overall gown delivery success rate of 98%, even whilst postal strikes were in full-effect; This ensured that all students were gowned and ready before their ceremonies.
